Plot of Macbeth Three witches tell the Scottish general Macbeth that he will be King of Scotland. Encouraged by his wife, Macbeth kills the king, becomes the new king, and kills more people out of paranoia. Civil war erupts to overthrow Macbeth, resulting in more death.
Main idea of Macbeth "the destruction wrought when ambition goes unchecked by moral constraints" this is the theme of which play?
Plot of Winter's Tale The jealous King Leontes falsely accuse his wife Hermione of infidelity with his best friend, and she dies. Leontes exiles his newborn daughter Perdita, who is raised by shepherds for sixteen years and falls in love with the son of Leontes' friend.
Main idea of the story winter's tale Friendship and Love. This play explores different kinds of relationships between family members, spouses, and friends.
Plot of The Taming of the Shrew Lucentio loves Bianca but cannot court her until her shrewish older sister Katherina marries. The eccentric Petruccio marries the reluctant Katherina and uses a number of tactics to render her an obedient wife.
Main idea of The Taming of the Shrew emphasizes the economic aspects of marriage-specifically, how economic considerations determine who marries whom.
Plot of Romeo and Juliet a tragedy where two characters, Romeo and Juliet, are supposed to be sworn enemies but fall in love. Due to their families' ongoing conflict, they cannot be together, so they kill themselves because they cannot cope with being separated from one another.
Plot of Hamlet The ghost of the King of Denmark tells his son Hamlet to avenge his murder by killing the new king, Hamlet's uncle. Hamlet feigns madness, contemplates life and death, and seeks revenge. His uncle, fearing for his life, also devises plots to kill Hamlet.
Main idea of Hamlet Two themes: The first one is that if people let anger and revenge get the best of them, they can cause damage. The second one is in life you will be able to get away with something for long but not forever.
Plot of King Lear King Lear divides his kingdom among the two daughters who flatter him and banishes the third one who loves him. His eldest daughters both then reject him at their homes, so Lear goes mad and wanders through a storm.
Plot of A Midsummer Night's Dream Four Athenians run away to the forest. Puck the fairy makes both of the boys fall in love with the same girl. They pursue each other. Puck helps his master play a trick on the fairy queen. Puck reverses the magic, and the two couples reconcile and marry.
Main Idea of A Midsummer Night's Dream Love- people tend to fall in love with people who appear beautiful to them
Plot of Othello Iago, angry about being overlooked for promotion, plots to take revenge against General Othello. Iago makes Othello think his wife Desdemona is unfaithful, stirring Othello's jealousy. Othello's jealousy consumes him,he murders his wife and kills himself.
