pectoralis major insertion greater tubercle/lateral side of intertubercular groove on humerus
actions of pecotoralis major clavicular portion- flexes humerus at shoulder joint, sternocostal portion- extends humerus at shoulder joint, entire mudcle- adduction and medial rotation of humerus, elevated ribs in forced respiration when humerus is fixed
nerve supply to pectoralis major medial pectoral nerve, lateral pectoral nerve
pectoralis minor origin ribs 3-5
pectoralis minor insertion coracoid process of scapula
pectoralis minor actions involved with protraction/abduction of scapula, elevates ribs in forced respiration
nerve supply to pectoralis minor medial pectoral nerve
subclavius origin first rib
subclavius insertion subclavian groove of clavicle
subclavius actions pulls clavicle medially, acts as a protective cushion between clavicle and subclavian blood vessels
nerve supply to subclavius nerve to the subclavius
trapezius origins superior nuchel line/occiput, external occipital protuberance, ligamentum nuchae, spines of C7-T12
trapezius insertions clavicle, acromion process of spine of scapula

rhomboid major nerve supply dorsal scapular nerve
rhomboid minor origin spines of C7,T1
rhomboid minor insertion vertebral border of scapula
rhomboid minor actions elevates/adducts scapula, helps stabilize scapula
rhomboid minor nerve supply dorsal scapular nerve
levator scapula origins transverse process/upper cervical vertebrae
levator scpula insertions upper medial border and superior angle of scapula
levator scapula actions elevate scapula, adducts scapula, stabilize scapula
nerve supply to levator scapula dorsal scapular nerve
latissimus dorsi origins spines of lower thoracic and lumbar vertebrae, thoracodorsal fascia, crest of the ilium, lower ribs
latissimus dorsi insertion medial side of intertubercular groove/lesser tubercle
latissimus dorsi actions extends/adducts/medially rotates humerus, involved in forced respiration
nerve supply to latissimus dorsi thoracodorsal nerve
serratus anterior origin upper 8 or 9 ribs
serratus anterior insertion vertebral border of scapula
