remission The disappearance of all signs of cancer in response to treatment. This does not always mean the cancer has been cured.
exacerbation For example, an exacerbation of asthma might occur as a serious effect of air pollution, leading to shortness of breath.
acute illness come on rapidly, and are accompanied by distinct symptoms that require urgent or short-term care, and get better once they are treated
chronic illness conditions that last 1 year or more and require ongoing medical attention or limit activities of daily living or both.
