Stages of Illness behavior | First - experiencing symptoms second - sick role behavior third - seeking professional care fourth - dependence on others fifth - recover |
remission | The disappearance of all signs of cancer in response to treatment. This does not always mean the cancer has been cured. |
exacerbation | For example, an exacerbation of asthma might occur as a serious effect of air pollution, leading to shortness of breath. |
acute illness | come on rapidly, and are accompanied by distinct symptoms that require urgent or short-term care, and get better once they are treated |
chronic illness | conditions that last 1 year or more and require ongoing medical attention or limit activities of daily living or both. |
