Algebra I - Dec Test

QuestionAnswer
What do you do when you see "Equivalent"? Type into DESMOS and find matching graphs
What do you do when you see axis of symmetry? Write x = _ and find the number on the x-axis that is exactly in the middle of the graph to fill in the blank.
What do you do when you see "best represents" Type into DESMOS and find the graph that matches the one they gave you
What do you do when you see rate of change? Remember that it is slope!
What do you do when you see slope? Pick two points. Subtract the y's. Subtract the x's. Then divide: The y answer divided by the x answer.
What do you do when you see range? ONLY use the letter y and ONLY use numbers from the y-axis or the y-value of a point (x, y)
What do you do when you see the word "ZERO" (like find the zero)? find the x-intercept (where it touches the x-axis)
What do you do when it says to solve for x and the equation has an exponent of 2? Type in the equation (if there is an equal sign in it, replace the equal with a minus sign). Click the spot(s) where is crosses the x-axis.
When you take the STAAR, which calculator should you pick? DESMOS
What do you pick when you see minimum or maximum value? the y-value of the vertex.
What do you do when you see domain? all real numbers OR..... ONLY use the letter x and ONLY use numbers from the x-axis or the x-value of a point (x, y)
What do you do if you have two equations (system)? Type each of them in and click where they cross each other.
What do you do if you have one equation (with no exponents) and they ask you so solve. Break it into two at the equal sign. Before the equal sign on line of of DESMOS and the stuff after the equal on line two. Click where they cross each other.
What do you do if they give you an equation and a point? TYPE IN EVERYTHING! Including the point and the answer choices.
What do you do if they give you an equation and a table? Turn the table into ordered pairs and type them in. Type in everything else.
What does it mean to be perpendicular? the lines cross each other at perfect 90 degree angles.
What does it mean to be parallel? It can mean there is NO SOLUTION or it can mean the two lines run side by side and NEVER cross
What does it mean when the equation only has the variable y and a number? the line is horizontal (side to side), the slope is 0
What does x=7 look like? a vertical line that goes through the number 7 on the x-axis and it has an undefined slope.
Where do you find a vertex and how do you write it? on a U-shaped graph, it is the very top (or very bottom) point on the graph smack in the middle of the U. Write it (x,y)

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
