Point of View

All the terms and definitions for point of view

TermDefinition
Point Of View How the narrator tells a story.
1st Person Point Of View When one character is the narrator telling the story. The author uses the pronouns "I and/or we".
2nd Person Point Of View When the narrator tells the story to another character using the pronoun "you".
3rd Person Point Of View When a narrator who is not one of the characters tells the story. The narrator lets the reader know what each of the characters thinks. The narrator uses the pronouns "he, she it and/or they".
3rd Person Limited When a 3rd person narrator presents the events mainly through one characters pov.
3rd Person Omniscient When the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of all the characters in the story.
Narrator The voice that tells the story.
Multiple Points of View When a narrator gives the perspective of multiple characters in a single story, usually in separate chapters.
Perspective The narrator's outlook or view on events; how they feel about events in the story.
