Heat Stroke | occurs when your body becomes too hot often due to being in a hot environment for too long or exercising heavily in the heat. Body > 103-104 F Is not actually a form of stroke Sweating may stop Call ALS - very serious aka Sun Stroke |
Heat Exhaustion | Patient is still conscious and sweating Temperature < 103 F Dizzy Rapid pulse |
Signs of Early Dehydration | Fatigue Weakness Headache Nausea Dizziness Thirst Dry Lips and Mouth |
Signs of Late Dehydration | Disorientation Loss of appetite Severe thirst Dry mucous membranes or sunken eyes Lowered blood pressure or rapid pulse “Tenting” of skin when pinched Lack of tears Decrease in perspiration Dar, amber urine or lack of urine output Unconsciousness |
Cold Related Emergencies (list) | Hypothermia Frostbite |
Signs and Symptoms of Hypothermia | Shivering (absent in later stages) Numbness Apathy Decreasing LOW Weakness Impaired judgement |
Frostbite Treatments | Do not apply warmth Wrap and let the body slowly warm the area |
