What is the purpose of a valve? Prevents backflow
What valve is located between the Left atrium and left ventricle? Bicspid Valve
What valve is located between the right atrium and right ventricle? TRicuspid Valve
What distinguishes cardiac muscle from skeletal muscle? Does not fatigue
Why is the lefthand side of the heart thicker than the righthand side? Pumps blood around the body
What prevents blood flowing from the left to the right handside of the heart? Septum
What blood vessel returns deoxygenated blood to the lung from the heart? Pulmonary Artery
What blood vessel brings oxygenated blood from the lung to the heart? Pulmonary Vein
What is the function of the pacemaker? Control heartbeat (electrial Signal)
What component of blood carries oxygen around the body? Red Blood cell
What component of blood carries carbon dioxide around the body? Red Blood cell (Haemoglobin)
Distinguish between pulmonary circulation and systemic circulation. pul - lung and heart Systemic- heart and body
What is the outermost membrane of the heart called? Epicardium
