hardness the minerals ability to resist being scratched
Mohs hardness scale ranks 10 minerals from hardest to softest
streak the color of a minerals powder
luster how the mineral reflects light from its surface
density the mass in a given space
cleavage when a mineral looks like it is/is able to be broken evenly
fracture when a mineral is not broken evenly
fluorescence when minerals glow under ultraviolet light
magnetism minerals are magnetic or not
rocks are: mixtures of minerals and other materials
mineral composition the minerals a rock is composed of that determine the char
