EEisenhower - massive retaliations - prevent wars by threatening the use of nuclear weapons
Taiwan Crisis - China threatened nationalist Taiwan - backed down when Eisenhower threatened force
Suez Crisis - Eisenhower sought to keep Arab nations from aligning with the Soviets - Offered financial for Nile River Dam - Failed and Arab nations began accepting Soviet aid
CIA - conducted hidden operations
Iran Iranian Prime Minister Mossadegh had nationalized Anglo- Iranian Oil Company and was ready to make a deal with Soviets CIA ousted Mossadegh and brought pro-american shah to power
Guatemala Communist sent arms CIA armed opposition and trained soldiers
