Atoms The smallest unit of matter-
Periodic Table A table/chart organized by the increasing Atomic Number of current elements-
Elements A pure substance that cannot be broken down into a simpler substance-
Electrons Subatomic Particles with a negative (-) charge, located on the Energy Levels of an Atom-
Protons Subatomic Particles with a positive (+) charge, located in the Nucleus of an Atom-
Neutrons Subatomic Particles with no (o) charge. located in the Nucleus of an Atom-
Nucleus The positively charged center of an Atom-
Atomic Number The number representing the amount of Protons and Electrons in an Element-
Atomic Mass The number representing the total amount of Subatomic Particles in an Atom-
Average Atomic Mass The weighted average of the Atomic Masses of the naturally occurring Isotopes of an Element-
Isotope An Element with the same number of Protons and Electrons, but different numbers of Neutrons-
A/Z X Isotope Notation (Format)-
Lewis Dot Structures A model showing the number of Valence Electrons in an Atom-
Energy Levels The levels around the Nucleus of an atom in which an Electron can be Located-
Valence Electrons The Electrons on the outer Energy Level-
Cation An Atom that has gained Electrons and become more Negative (-)-
Anion An Atom that has lost Electrons and become more Positive (+)-
Compound A substance made up of Atoms of two or more different Elements joined by chemical bonds-
Bohr Model/Electron Cloud Model The most recent and accurate Atomic Models-
Quarks The Subatomic Particles that make up an Atom-
Lanthanides Subcategory of Metals
Rare Earth A family of Elements in which Thulium exists
