chemical property | property of matter that describe a substance ability to participate in chemical reaction |
physical changes | change of matter from one form to another without a change in chemical properties |
chemical changes | change that occurs that occurs when one or more substance change into entirely new substance change with different properties |
extensive property | property that depends on the extent or size of a system |
ductility | ability of a substance to be hammered thin or drawn out into a wire |
malleability | ability of a substance to be hammered or beaten into a sheet |
volume | measure of the size of a body or region in three-dimensional space |
compressibility | the measure of how much given volume of matter decrease when placed under |
density | ratio of the mass of a substance to the volume of the substance |
evaporation | changes of a substance from a liquid to a gas |
sublimation | process in which a solid changes directly into a gas |
vaporization | the process by which a liquid or solid changes to a gas |
element | substance that cannot be separated or broken down into simpler substance by chemical means |
compound | a substance made of atoms of two or more different elements joined by chemical bonds |
heterogeneous mixture | composed of dissimilar components |
homogeneous mixture | describes something that has a uniform structure or composition throughout |
atom | the smallest unit of an element that maintains the chemical properties of that element |
