Matter It is a measure of the amount of matter
Physical property is a characteristic that can be observed or measured without changing the identity of the substance.
Chemical property relates to substance's ability to undergo changes that transform it into different substances
extensive property depends on the amount of matter that is present
intensive property Do not depends on the amount of matter present
Ductility The ability of a substance to be hammered thin or drawn out into a wire.
malleability The ability of a substance to be hammered or beaten into sheet
volume It is that mount of space occupied by an object
compressibility The measure of how much a given volume of matter decrease when placed under pressure
density It is the ratio of mass to volume or mass divided by volume
evaporation The change of a substance from liquid to gas
sublimation the process in which solid changes directly into gas( the term is sometimes used also used for the reserve process
vaporization The process by which liquid or solid changes into gas
element is a pure substance that cannot be broken down into simpler, stable substances and is made of one type of atom.
compound is a substance that can be broken down into simple stable substances. each compound is made from atom of two or more element that are chemically bounded.
heterogeneous mixtures Mixture that are not uniform in throughout
homogeneous mixture Mixture that are uniform in composition
atom is the smallest unit of an element that maintains the chemical identity of that element.
mixture is a blend of two or more kinds of matter, each of which reactions its own identity and properties
Pure substances it has a fixed composition
