pH scale | The negative logarithm of the H+ concentration. |
weak base | base molecules that do not release all of the OH- ions |
dissociation constant | The concentrations of the products of a chemical reaction times each other where the concentration of each is raised to the power of the coefficient of each from a balanced equation divided by the reactant concentrations times each other. |
strong base | base molecules that release all of their OH- ions |
hydronium ion | acid molecules where H+ + H20 -> H30+ |
strong acid | acid molecules that release all of their H+ ions |
weak acid | acid molecules that only release some of their H+ ions |
base | something that releases OH- into water |
acid | something that releases H+ ions into water |
voltaic cell | also called a galvanic cell where metal atoms of one element force electrons onto metal atoms of another element |
galvanic cell | also called a voltaic cell in which metal atoms of one element force electrons onto metal atoms of another element |
voltage | The force exerted when metal atoms force electrons onto other atoms. This is also called the electromotive force (EMF) |
