Term | Definition |

Igneous Rocks | Formed from magma found in the mantle just below the crust. |
Intrusive igneous rocks | When magma us forced up into the crust and becomes trapped, it begins to cool very slowly. |
Extrusive igneous rocks | When lava reaches the earths surface, it spreads out on the surface and meets the air, it cools and hardens very quickly. |
Sedimentary Rocks | These rocks are made up of pieces of other rocks and remains of dead plants and animals, which over time formed layers (strata), becoming compressed and cemented together to form rock |
Metamorphic Rocks | When igneous and sedimentary rocks come into contact with great heat or great pressure, the can be changed into completely new rocks. |
Natural Resources | Resources that come from nature and that humans can use. |
