Study the terms associated with the research unit

QuestionAnswer
Author a person who writes books, articles, internet sites, literature
Source a place where information is found (book, encyclopedia, etc.)
Encyclopedia a set of books giving information about people, places, events, or things
Copyright The exclusive right to reproduce, publish, or sell a piece of work
Publisher publishes books and other printed materials to sell
Plagiarism taking someone's own words or ideas as your own and not giving proper credit to the author
Paraphrasing putting words or ideas from a source into your own words
Outline putting ideas/notes into a logical format to assist in the organziation of information
Alphabetical arranged by letters in the order of the alphabet
Research a careful hunting for facts about a subject
Internet an electronic communications network that connects computer networks around the world
URL the address of a resource (document or website) on the internet
Search Engine used to help find information on the internet about a certain subject
Noodle Tools online site to record notes and bibliography information
Note taking practice of writing pieces of information from a source in an informal manner to use later
Works Cited title used for the list of books and other sources used in the research project
Citation another name for a source written in a specific format (MLA, APA, etc)
Reference Book book such as a dictionary or encyclopedia which has authoritative information
Skimming to glance/read through text quickly, looking for important ideas or information
