What is homeostasis? the maintenance of relatively constant internal conditions despite changes in either the internal or the external environment

Define Osmosis. Osmosis is the movement of water through a semipermeable mem-brane. This allows water to pass through the membrane, but blocks the passage of at least one solute.
what happens when a cell is placed in a hypertonic solution? The cell will lose water through osmosis and shrivel up. If the cells shrivels up excessively its at risk for damage and possible cell death.
This molecule is a polymer, and takes on the shape of a double helix spiraled. What molecule is it? DNA
An atypical and unusually thick scar that may develop in the lower layer of the skin is called what? a Keloid.
what are the two major types of body membranes that exist? Epithelieal Membranes, composed of epithelial tissue and Connecctive tissue membranes, composed of various types of connective tissue(not epithelial cells)
What are the main functions of bone? Support serving as a framework, protection. Hard bones act as a shield for vital organs. Movement with the assisttance of joints, Mineral storage ( major place for calcium storage),and Hematopoiesis or blood cell formation.
What sections of the skeleton make up the Axial skeleton? The skull, Ribcage , and vertebral column all the way to the Coccyx.
What sections of the skeleton make up the appendicular skeleton The clavivle, and manubrium of scapula, coxal bone and all four appendages
