TermDefinition
Afferent Conducting or conducted inward or toward something (for nerves the central nervous system; for blood vessels, the organ supplied).
Denature Process modifying the molecular structure of a protein.
Catalyst A substance that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself undergoing any permanent chemical change.
Anaphase The stage of meiotic or mitotic cell division in which the chromosomes move away from one another to opposite poles of the spindle.
Elastin A protein forming the main constituent of elastic connective tissue, found especially in the dermis of the skin.
Avascular Characterized by or associated with a lack of blood vessels.
Cerumen Technical term for earwax.
Bone Matrix The intercellular substance of bone tissue consisting of collagen fibers, ground substance and inorganic bone salts.
Coccyx A small triangular bone at the base of the spinal column in humans and some apes, formed of fused vestigial vertebrae.
Carpal Bone Bones of the wrist that connect the distal aspects of the radial and ulnar bones of the forearm of the bases of the five metacarpal bones of the hand.
Abduction The movement of a limb away from the midline of the body.
