What types of CONFLICT are in a fiction story? Character vs. self, others, nature and/or society.
How can character TRAITS be determined? Character's words and actions.
What is INTERNAL dialogue? Character's feelings and thoughts.
What is EXTERNAL dialogue? Character's exact words.
What is an ANTAGONIST? The character that is against the main character.
What is a PROTAGONIST? The main character of the story that goes through a change.
What does character's TONE mean? The attitude they use when they speak.
What does MOOD mean in a story? The feeling the reader gets from the story.
What is the CONNOTATION of a word? The feeling the word gives that is either positive, neutral or negative. (Example: smell vs odor)
What is the DENOTATION of a word? The dictionary definition of a word.
What are CONTEXT clues? Using the words around an unknown word to guess its meaning.
What are AFFIXES and ROOTS? Word parts (prefix, root, suffix) that make up many new words.
What is a THEME? The lesson or moral of the story that anyone can relate to.
What is the MAIN IDEA? What the text is mainly about.
What are supporting DETAILS? Evidence that supports the main idea.
What does POINT of VIEW mean? Who is telling the story .
