(Digital Footprint Vocabulary)

TermDefinition
Digital Footprint The information about a particular person that exists on the internet as a result of their online activity.
Cookies A piece of data from a website that is stored within a web browser that the website can retrieve at a later time.
GeoLocation The process of finding, determining and providing the exact location of a computer, networking device or equipment.
MetaData Data that provide information about other data.
Data Is information that has been translated into a form that is efficient for movement or processing.
Spreadsheet A tool or grid that is used to store, manipulate and analyze data.
Browser History The list of web pages a user has visited, tracking the time of visit and page title.
Digital Literacy Having the skills you need to live, learn, and work in a society involving the communication of technology.
Blog A type of website that is used hold personal reflections, videos, and pictures of oneself. Like a journal or diary.
Dossier A file or collection of information and details about a particular person or subject.
Derogatory Expressing a low opinion of someone or something or expressing a low opinion of someone or something.
Social Networking An online community of individuals who exchange messages, share information, and, in some cases, cooperate on joint activities.
Viral An image, video, advertisement, etc., that is circulated rapidly on the internet.
Profile The outline of your face as it is seen online, involving a description about you.
Privacy Settings The part of a social networking website, internet browser, piece of software, etc. that allows you to control who sees information about you
