Key words for the consumer

TermDefinition
The Consumer A consumer is a person who buys goods and services for their own use
A guarantee A promise by the manufacturer or company that it will sort out any problems with a product or service with a certain time frame
A warranty Is like an insurance for which you must pay a premium. It is legally binding

Sustainability Involves carefully managing a resource in order to give it time to renew itself. For example, the fishing industry issues licences and also sets limits (called quota)
Sustainable consumption means buying goods and services that do not harm society, the environment or the economy
Credit note Limits you to something else from the sane shop
Refund You can receive the cost of the item back, either in cash or as money paid back on to your credit card
Replacement You have the same or an alternative that is free of damage or faults
Repair The item may be fixed free of charge. The repair must be permanent
