control | the standard for comparison (does not contain an I.V. and must be included for an experiment to be valid) |
dependent variable | The variable that is the result of the independent variable |
experiment | a scientific procedure undertaken to make a discovery, test a hypothesis, or demonstrate a known fact. |
hypothesis | an educated guess |
independent variable | the variable manipulated (changed) by the experiment, a valid experiment only has 1. |
observation | the action or process of observing something or someone carefully or in order to gain information. |
derived unit | a unit of measurement obtained by multiplication or division of the base units |
graph | a line straight or curved that shows relation between two quantities out of which one varies as a result of change in other. |
kilogram | mass |
liter | volume |
mass | the quantity of matter which a body contains, as measured by its acceleration under a given force or by the force exerted on it by a gravitational field. |
volume | the amount of space occupied |
meter | distance |
second | time |
time | how long something takes |
SI | International system of units |
acceleration | vf-vi/t |

gravity | 9.8 m/s^2 |
instantaneous speed | the speed of an object at a particular moment in time |
speed | d/t |
velocity | displacement/t |
free fall | a falling object that is under the influence of gravity |
distance | s*t |
