CONSUMER RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Consumer is a person who buys goods or services for their own use.
Own-label products is the brand of the shop that sells them
Caveat emptor Let the buyer beware
Merchantable quality must be in fit condition to be sold. It must be safe, useable and of reasonable quality.
Be fit for the purpose intended The good must do what you expect it to do
Be as described it must match the description given
Match the sample shown an item must match the item you were shown before purchase
Repair the item is to be fixed free of charge
Replacement the same product or an alternative product for replacement
Refund You can receive the cost of the item back
Redress a remedy or compensation
credit note allows the customer to choose other goods of the same value from that shop
Guarantee is a promise that it will sort out any problems with a product or service within a specific, fixed period of time
Extended warranty for an extra fee, the guarantee can be extended for a longer time period.
