what is a mineral? a solid inorganic substance of natural occurrence.
what are the five properties something must pass to be a mineral they must be naturally occurring, solid , inorganic, crystalline structure and the same chemical composition throughout
what are some examples of a native element Gold, Diamond, sulfer and iron are just a view native elements and all native elements are single elements
what are some examples of carbonates Calcite crystals, or any one carbon atom bonded to three oxygen atoms
what are some examples of Halides Halite, fluorite made out of salts
what are some examples of oxides Hematite and magnetite, magnetite being the most magnetic mineral
what are some examples of silicates? feldspar and quarts are just a few Silicates which is the largest branch of minerals
what are some examples of sulfates? Gypsum which can grow to be 11 meters long
what are some examples of sulfides? Pyrite and iron sulfide or also known as fools gold.
is water a mineral or a non mineral? Water is not a mineral because is is liquid and not solid
is Wood a mineral or a non mineral? wood is a not a mineral because it is organic
is Iron a mineral or non mineral? Iron is a mineral because it meets all of the guidelines to be classified as a mineral.
What is cleavage the tendency of a mineral to split along flat, smooth surfaces.
what is Fracture the matter in which a mineral breaks along an irregular surface
what type of luster looks like glass? Vitreous luster
what type of luster looks like it has an oil coated substance on it greasy luster
what type of luster looks like resin Resinous luster
what type of luster looks like silk silky luster
what type of luster looks like a pearl pearly luster
