Community-Supported Agriculture | Community of individuals who pledge support to a farm operation so that the farmland becomes the community's farm, with the growers and consumers providing mutual support and sharing the risks and benefits of food production. |
Value Added Specialty Crops | Changing the physical state or form of an agricultural product in a way that increases it's worth (wheat into flour or berries into jam). |
Local Food Movement | Encouraging people to eat foods which are grown or farmed relatively close to the places of sale and preparation. |
Food Insecurity | The state of being without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food. |
Food Desert | Geographic areas where residents have few to no convenient options for securing affordable and healthy foods — especially fresh fruits and vegetables. |
Organic Farming | Farming that is grown and processed using no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. |
