Factors Numbers that are multiplied together
Multiplication property of 0 0 times any number equals 0, 0·x=0
Reflexive Axiom of equality A number equals itself x=x
Expression A collection of numbers, operation signs, and symbols of inclusion
Solving an equation Writing the solution set to the equation
Empty Set When no solution is possible, the solution set will have no numbers in it
Radical An expression that has a root
Symmetric Axiom of Equality The two members of an equation can be reversed without affecting their equality
Order of Operations 1. Evaluate any powers first 2. Multiply and divide in order from left to right 3. Last add and subtract in order from left to right
distributing multiplication or division over addition or subtraction of two or more terms from the left or from the right
associate To group two of the numbers in parenthesis so that the operations between them are done first
solution set the set of all solutions to an equation
