When did the United States declare war? April 6, 1917
How did Georgia help with the war? over 100,000 georgians became soldiers, others bought war bonds, and others planted victory gardens.
What is a drought and how did it affect Georgia? A period without water and it made it difficult to grow any crops.
What is a boll weevil? A bug whos larvae eats cotton crops.
When did the boll weevil make it to Georgia? 1915
What did the boll weevil amke famers do? Diversify their crops so they wouldn't get eaten. Like soybeans, potatoes, and corn
What were the other factord that led to the Great Depression? Bank Failures, Reduction and purchasing, and overproduction of agricultural products.
Who created the New Deal? Franklin D. Roosevelt
What four new deal programs were put into place? AAA, CCC, REA, SSA
What was the AAA? Paid farmers to plant less cotton and tabacco so the supply would go down which made the demand go up.
What was the CCC? Hired unemployed young men to work on public service projects.
What was the REA? Brought electricity to rural families and farmers in the country areas of Georgia.
What was the SSA? Money gievn to people over 65 years of age and disabled people wot help with funding.
Why did Franklin D. Roosevelt come to Georgia? He came on navy business.
Why did he come back to Georgia after falling in love with it? The warm springs helped with his polio symptoms.
He created what after warm springs in Georgia? the roosevelt warm springs rehabilitation center
Today, what is his house called? The little white house
What did Eugene Talmage run for but lost both times? General Assembly
What did he run for and win? Governor of Georgia
Why was he against Roosevelt's New Deal? He didn't like any relief program that helped african americans
