Cunoașterea lumii prin călători

Marco Polo primul om din Europa care a călătorit spre China - a plecat din Veneția(Italia) spre China, împreună cu tatăl și unchiul său -începutul secolului al XIII -lea
Cristofor Columb primul călător care a ajuns în America - navigator(a călătorit pe mări și oceane) - a plecat din Spania spre India, pentru a descoperi un nou drum - a ajuns în America, fără să-și dea seama că a descoperit un nou continent - secolul al XV-lea
Numele continentului ,,America,, - provine de la numele navigatorului Amerigo Vespucci, care și-a dat seama că a fost descoperit un nou continent.
Fernando Magellan primul om care a dovedit că Pământul este rotund - navigator portughez -a realizat înconjurul Pământului pe mare (navigând numai spre vest, marinarii au ajuns în același loc de unde au plecat) -secolul al XVI-lea
Badea Cârțan a călătorit pe jos din Transilvania până la Roma, în Italia, la Columna lui Traian - ocupația lui principală era creșterea oilor, dar s-a arătat interesat și de învățătură - secolul al XIX-lea
Spătarul Nicolae Milescu -înalt demnitar la curtea domnească în Evul Mediu(spătar) -călător român, care a călătorit în multe țări din Europa - s-a stablit în Rusia, la curtea țarului -a plecat în China, ca ambasador al Rusiei -secolul al XVII-lea
Emil Racoviță savant și explorator român -a participat la o expediție în Antarctica, la Polul Sud al Pământului, pe vasul Belgica -este fondatorul biospeologiei( știință despre viața în peșteri) -secolul al XIX-lea
