Rock Cycle

igneous rock forms by the cooling and hardening of magma
metamorphic rock forms when rocks are exposed to high heat from the Earth's mantle and high pressure
sedimentary rock forms from layers of sediment and once living organisms that have undergone compaction and cementation
magma hot, melted rock found below or within the Earth's crust
sediment small pieces of broken rock, minerals, and the remains of plants and animals
weathering the process of breaking down or dissolving rock
erosion the transportation of sediment from one place to another by natural forces like wind or water.
compaction sediment being compressed or smashed together due to the pressure from the layers above
cementation sediment being stuck or glued together by minerals
deposition the laying down of sediment carried by wind, flowing water, the sea, or ice.
