X-Intercept | Set y=0 and solve |
Y-Intercept | Set x=0 and solve |
Vertical Asymptote | Set y=0 and solve |
Horizontal Asymptote | Set x=0 and solve |
Critical Points | f'(x)=0 -> Solve |
Increasing/Decreasing | Plug values into f"(x) around the critical points + values are increasing - values are decreasing |
Concavity | f"(x)=0 gives points plug values in from around the points + are concave UP - are concave DOWN |
When can the Mean Value Theorem be used? | f(x) is continuous on the closed interval [a, b] f(x) is differentiable on the open interval (a, b) |
Mean Value Theorem Equation | f'(c) = [f(b) - f(a)] / (b - a) |
