CDVS: Major Vessels

Major vessels from the cardiovascular system.

QuestionAnswer
jugular veins carries blood from head to superior vena cava
superior vena cava receives blood from the head and arms and chest and empties into the right atrium of the heart
Pulmonary veins Deliver oxygen rich blood from the lungs to the left atrium
hepatic vein the vein that collects blood from the liver and returns it to the heart
renal vein blood vessel that carries blood away from the kidney and toward the heart
inferior vena cava carries blood from lower regions of the body to right atrium
radial artery Artery of the lower arm. It is felt when taking the pulse at the wrist.
Iliac Vein carries deoxygenated blood from the pelvic organs and lower extremities
femoral vein major vein of the thigh
carotid arteries the major arteries that carry blood upward to the head
ascending aorta the ascending part of the aorta as it emerges from the left ventricle
pulmonary arteries carry deoxygenated blood out of the right ventricle and into the lungs
coronary ateries supplies heart muscle with oxygen rich blood cells
brachial arteries Blood vessels that take oxgyenated blood to the upper arm
renal arteries The two branches of the abdominal aorta that supply the kidneys
abdominal aorta lower descending aorta, takes blood to lower trunk and legs
iliac arteries deliver blood to pelvic organs and lower abdominal wall
femoral arteries These arteries are one of two branches of the external iliac arteries. They carry blood to the thigh and lower posterior limb.
dorsalis pedis artery The artery on the anterior surface of the foot between the first and second metatarsals.
apical pulse a central pulse located at the apex of the heart
