DDMS 6th Grade Math -- Angles and Angle Relationships

Angle | formed by two rays with a common endpoint; the two rays are the sides of the angle. |
Vertex | on an angle or polygon, the point where two sides intersect |
Right Angle | an angle that measures 90° |
Acute Angle | an angle less than 90° |
Obtuse Angle | an angle whose measure is greater than 90° but less than 180° |
Straight Angle | an angle that measures 180° |
Vertical Angles | A pair of opposite congruent angles formed by intersecting lines; vertical angles are congruent |
Adjacent Angles | Angles in the same plane that have a common vertex and a common side |
Complementary Angles | two angles whose measures add to 90° |
Supplementary Angles | two angles whose measures have a sum of 180° |
