What impact did the French and Indian war have on Georgia? Gave up all French North American colonies, gave Spanish Florida to England, No more Spanish threat.
What finally ended the French and Indian war? The treaty of Paris 1763
Because of the war the new British land had a bunch of unhappy Native Americans. Because of this what proclomation was put in place? Proclomation of 1763- illegal for colonists to move west.
Why did King George III hope for peace? So he could start a trade relationship.
What was the motivation of the proclomation of 1763? To avoid the expense of further war with the Native Americans.
What is the stamp act? An act in which all colonists had to buy a stamp from the government for almost any paper document.
Who was affected by the stamp act? All English colonists
Why the Stamp Act? Needed to raise money for the French and Indian war.
What two events happened in Boston that showed the colonists were mad and rebellious with England? Boston massacre and the boston tea party.
What group opposed England? Sons of liberty.
What is taxation without representation? A populace that is required to pay taxes to a governmetn authority without having a say in that governments policies
What did all of the other colonies think about Georgia being the only colony that paid the Stamp Act? Georgia earned disdain from the other colonies.
What are the 5 intolaerable acts discussed in the video? Boston Port act, Massacheuttes Government act, Quebec act, Quarting act, and the Administration of Justice Act.
Boston Port Act? Closed the port of Boston (hurt trade)
Quartering Act? Closed the port of Boston (hurt trade)
Massacheuttes Government Act? Took away the government from the colony Allowed to only hold one meeting per year
Quebec Act? Expanded the British Canadian territory south into the Ohio Valley/Upset because we gave up more land
Administration of Justice Act? Move trails to Britain
Where did the 1st Continental Congress meet? Carpenters Hall in Philadelphia
Which colony was the only colony absent from the 1st Continental Congress meeting? Georgia
When was the Declaration of Independence adopted? July 4, 1776
Where did the 1st armed conflict take place during the American Revolution? What’s another name for this event? Lexington and Concord. Shot heard around the world.

What are the three parts of the Declaration of Independence? Preamble, Grievances, Official Declaration
What is the Preamble? Reasons behind the colonists decision to separate. The begining of the document.
What are the Grievances? Complaints against the British government. Complaints
What is the Official Declaration? Actual Declaration which freed the colonies. Declared freedom from British rule.
What were "Whigs"? Whigs were patriots that wanted freedom from British rule.
What were "Tories"? Tories were loyalists to England. (Mostly Georgians)
Who wanted freedom from England? Whigs or Patriots
Who was loyal to England? Tories or Loyalists
What did the Treaty of Paris of 1783 do? Granted America its freedom from British rule.
What was the Battle of Kettle Creek? A surprise attack that led to Patriot victory. Caused British to withdrawl from Augusta.
What was the Seige of Savannah? Battle the lasted 90 minutes, bloodiest battle of the war, largest battle of the war.
Who was Count Casimir Pulaski? A Polish soldier who fought in the Seige of Savannah.
What are the Articles of Confederation? Americas first written government.
Who were the 2 Georgia signers of the Articles of Confederation? Abraham Baldwin and William Few
What was the ⅗ compromise? allowed states to include slaves in the population count. Slaves would count as ⅗ of a person
What was the Great Compromise? The colonies went from unicameral or one house to bicameral or two houses.
Strengths of the Articles of Confederation Citizens elect people to represent them. Had power to declare war, coin money, establish post offices, and send or recall embassadors. Self government
Weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation No strong national government, No leader controlled the government, Congress could not make an army without permission from the states, Congress couldn't collect taxes, each state had one vote, could make laws but couldn't force states to obey them.
