Term | Definition |

Acids (Acidic solutions) | A substance or solution that has a pH of 0 through 6.9, taste sour and has a sticky texture. |
Bases (Basic solutions) | A substance or solution that has a pH of 7.1 through 14, tastes bitter and has a slippery texture. |
Neutrals (Neutral solutions) | A substance or solution that has a pH of 7 and is formed when an acid and base combines. |
Indicators | Substances that changes color in the presence of an acid, base, or neutral solution. |
Litmus paper | An indicator that has a special dye that changes color in the presence of an acid or base. |
Phenolphthalein | A liquid indicator that is used to test for the presence of a base. |
pH paper | An indicator that has a range of colors depending on the pH of the solution. |
