Spyware Software that enables a user to obtain covert information about another's computer activities by transmitting data covertly from their hard drive.
The practice of sifting through commercial or residential waste to find items that have been discarded by their owners, but that may prove useful to the dumpster diver
Firewall What helps to keep your organization’s internal network (or other devices, data, applications, etc.) safe from outside threats
Forgery The action of forging or producing a copy of a document, signature, banknote, or work of art
Fraud Wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain
Identity Theft When someone uses another person's personal identifying information, like their name, identifying number, or credit card number, without their permission, to commit fraud or other crimes
Per-to-Peer (P2P) Lending enables individuals to obtain loans directly from other individuals, cutting out the financial institution as the middleman
Phishing The fraudulent attempt to obtain sensitive information or data, such as usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, or other sensitive details by impersonating oneself as a trustworthy entity in a digital communication
Shoulder Surfing The practice of spying on the user of an ATM, computer, or other electronic device in order to obtain their personal access information
Snail Mail Letters and missives carried by conventional postal delivery services
Scams A deceptive scheme or trick used to cheat someone out of something, especially money
Anti-Virus Software A computer program used to prevent, detect, and remove malware
Better Business Bureau A private non-profit organization that focuses on enhancing trust in the marketplace
Federal Trade Commission Afederal agency, established in 1914, that administers antitrust and consumer protection legislation in pursuit of free and fair competition in the marketplace
Equifax Tracks the credit history of borrowers in order to generate credit reports and credit scores
TransUnion An American consumer credit reporting agency
Experian An Anglo-Irish multinational consumer credit reporting company
Internal Revenue Service The revenue service of the United States federal government responsible for collecting taxes and administering the Internal Revenue Code, the main body of federal statutory tax law
Solicitations The act of offering, or attempting to purchase, goods and/or services
Spam Irrelevant or inappropriate messages sent on the Internet to a large number of recipients
