Calculating gross pa

QuestionAnswer
Gross pay the amount of money earned during a pay period before deductions
Gross pay calculation multiply number of hours worked during a pay period by the hourly wage
Gross pay equation hours worked in the pay period x hourly wage = gross pay
Overtime definition the amount of time a person works beyond 40 hours in a work week
Overtime pay definition pay for work beyond 40 hours in a work week that is at least one and one-half times the regular rate of pay
Number of overtime hours calculation subtract the total number of hours worked in a pay period minus 40 hours
Regular pay calculation multiply 40 hours by hourly wage
Overtime hourly wage calculation multiply the hourly wage by 1.5
Overtime pay calculation multiply the overtime hours by the overtime hourly wage
Total gross pay calculation add regular gross pay for the pay period to the overtime pay for the pay period
