Surface Tension Skin formed at the top layer of water due to its attraction to itself
Capillary Action Ability of water to flow in narrow tubes upwards against gravity
Condensation Process of turning from a vapor or gas to liquid
Evaporation Process of turning from a liquid to a vapor or a gas
Freezing Process of turning a liquid to a solid
Melting Process of turning a solid to a liquid
Refraction Bending of light and separating it into its separate colors as it passes through water
Dew Condensation of water from a gas or vapor to a liquid on a cold surface
Frost Deposition of water from a gas or vapor to a solid on a substance below the temperature of freezing
Condensation Nuclei solid particles in the atmosphere that provide a surface for rain drops or snow flakes to grow
Adhesion Attractive force of water to stick to other types of molecules
Cohesion Attractive force of water to stick to other water molecules
Polar Molecule Compounds which have positive and negative regions
Hydrogen Bond Weak bond between the positive hydrogen region of a water molecule to the negative oxygen region of another
Covalent Bond Strong bond between atoms due to the sharing of electrons
Universal Solvent Water's ability to dissolve more substances than any other compound
Boiling Point The temperature at which water's vapor pressure is more than atmospheric pressure
Atmospheric Pressure The pressure of the atmosphere against all surfaces on Earth
Vapor Pressure The surface pressure of liquid water where it attempts to escape as a gas
