bio- life Example: biology- the study of life
-blast- sprout, germ or bud Example: ectoblast- outer layer of germ layer of an embryo that develops into the skin and nervous tissue.
branchi- arm Example: brachial artery- artery found in the arm
brady- slow Example: bradycardia- slow heart rate
bronch- airway Example: bronchial tubes- tubes that lead to the lungs
calor- heat Example: calorimeter- type of instrument used to measure the amount of heat
carcin- cancer Example: carcinogens- cancer causing
cardi- heart Example: cardiology- the study of the heart
carn- meat, flesh Example: carnivore- meat eater
carp- fruit Example: exocarp- the outer layer of fruit
carpal- wrist Example: carpal tunnel- an opening in your wrist that is formed by the carpal bones on the bottom of the wrist
cata- breakdown or downward Example: catabolic- breaking down food to gain energy.
caud- tail Example: caudal fin- a fin located on the posterior of an organism.
cephal- head Example: cephalic- towards the head
cerebr- brain Example- cerebral spinal fluid- liquid that surrounds the brain and spine
cervic- neck Example: cervical collar- device that goes around your neck to protect it from damage
chem- dealing with chemicals Example: chemistry- the study of chemicals
chlor- green Example: chloroplast- green pigmented organelle
corp- body Example: corpse- dead body
