Theory | Hypothesis that has been tested |
Scientific law | Theory that has been tested |
Hypothesis | Educated guess as an if-then statement |
Control set up | The part of the experiment that has everything the same except what you are testing (independent variable) |
Experimental set up | Part of the experiment that has everything including what you are testing. |
Observation | Use of senses to describe what is happening in the experiment |
Inference | Statement made based on observations but it is not necessarily true |
Qualitative | Subjective observations that can change from person to person |
Quantitative | Objective observations that will not change (measurements/numbers) |
Variable | Parts of the experiment that change |
Constant | Parts of the experiment that do not change |
Independent variable | Part of the experiment that I manipulate the change (I make it to change) |
Dependent variable | Part of the experiment that is the response to the change it was made |
Experimentation | Meaning to try (do many times) and it contains the control set up and the experimental set up |
Problem | the form of a question about things that can be test not like feelings or beliefs |
