circuit board (motherboard) the brain of an electronic device
smartphone a mobile device that can perform multiple functions in addition to voice calls
operating system (OS) a program that controls computers, devices and connected equipment
network a group of connected computers and devices
wi-fi a way of connecting computers and devices to the internet without using wires
Ethernet way of connecting multiple devices together using wires
Bluetooth allows devices to send data wirelessly through radio waves
avatar an electronic image that represents a computer user online
cloud computing using a network of remote computers on the internet to store, manage and retrieve data
smart home a residence that uses appliances and gadgets operated through a network
e-commerce (electronic commerce) the buying and selling of products and services through the internet
voice assistant uses speech recognition to respond to requests and commands
search engine a program that locates information on the internet
web browser a program used to view websites
GPS (Global Positioning System) determines the exact location of an object on Earth by using satellites
streaming media online video or audio data that plays while it downloads
pixel the smallest part of a display or image
screen resolution number of pixels used to display images on a screen (more pixels = better image)
weather radar locates precipitation and determines its form, strength and motion
data information processed by a computer or device
bandwidth the maximum amount of data that can pass from one point to another during a specific time
app (software) a program that is run on a computer or device
virtual reality an interactive simulation of a 3-D environment and manipulated by the user
peripheral hardware that is connected to a computer
troubleshoot finding and fixing a problem
