TermDefinition
Internet Is the global system of interconnected computer networks that uses the Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to communicate between networks and devices.
Browser A program that enables users to navigate the World Wide Web
Search Engine A program used for the retrieval of data, files or documents in a data base or network especially the Internet
World Wide Web Commonly known as the Web, is an information system where documents and other web resources are interlinked by hypertext, and are accessible over the Internet
URL Uniform Resource Locator, a specific address that is assigned to each of the available resources in the network
Website A location connected to the Internet that maintains one or more pages on the World Wide Web
Webpage A document connected to the World Wide Web that is viewable by anyone with an Internet connection and a browser
Homepage Main page of a website often has a table of contents on it
Menu Bar A horizontal bar located at the top of the screen containing drop down menus
Hyperlink A highlighted word or image within a page that will link to an other location within the document or another web location
Netiquette Correct or acceptable way of communicating on the Internet
Keywords An informative word used in an informational retrieval system to indicate the content of a document or website
Trend, trending Level of popularity on topics of interest, fashion, public figures, artists, news and lifestyle, followed by users
Hashtag Is simply a keyword phrase, spelled out without spaces, with a pound sign (#) in front of it, used to identify a message
Adwords Text ads that Google places in search results. Advertisers buy 'keywords' - the ad will appear when someone searches for that word - and pay when someone clicks on the link.
