compare\contrast is to look at two things and see how they are similar and different
simile when describing a comparison between two fundamentally different things
metaphor a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable.
idiom is a form of expression that is particular to a certain person
rhetorical question a question asked in order to create a dramatic effect or to make a point rather than to get an answer.
convey make (an idea, impression, or feeling) known or understandable to someone
authors veiwpoint is the way an author looks at a topic or the ideas being described.
mood a temporary state of mind or feeling.
tone a modulation of the voice expressing a particular feeling or mood.
plot the main events of a play, novel, movie, or similar work, devised and presented by the writer as an interrelated sequence
conflict a serious disagreement or argument, typically a protracted one
flashback a sudden and disturbing vivid memory of an event in the past, typically as the result of psychological trauma or taking LSD.
