How long is a day? 24 hours
The reason we have day and night. Earth spins on its axis.
Earth rotates in this direction. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Counterclockwise.
How long is one year? 365.25 days
The earth orbiting the sun. One Earth Year
How long is a lunar cycle? The moon orbiting the Earth 29.5 days, or one Month
Why do we only see one face of the moon? The moon rotates at the same speed as it revolves around the Earth.
The shape of the lit portion of the Moon that we see from Earth. Moon Phases
The part of the moon that is always facing the Sun. Sunlit half
When the Moon is between the Sun and the Earth. We can not see the moon during this phases. New Moon
When the Earth is between the Moon and Sun. We see all of the moon during this phases. Full Moon
When the lit portion of the moon seems to be growing in size. Waxing
When the lit portion of the Moon seems to be getting smaller. Waning
When less than half of the moon is lit up Crescent Moon
When half of the moon is lit up. First and Third Quarter Moon
When more than half of the moon is lit up Gibbous Moon
When an object in space passes between two other objects. Eclipse
During a New Moon, the moon passes between the Earth and Sun. What kind of Eclipse is this? Solar Eclipse
When the Earth passes between the Moon and Sun. What kind of Eclipse is this? Lunar Eclipse.
