Multiplication and Division of Whole Numbers by a Fraction
Term | Definition |

Numerator | The number above the bar in a fraction that tells how many equal parts of the whole or group are being considered. |
Denominator | The number below the bar in a fraction that tells how many equal parts are in the whole or in the group. |
Unit Fraction | The number above the bar has a value of 1. |
Reciprocal | A fraction when the numerator and the denominator a switched. |
Improper Fraction | The number above the bar is larger than the number below the bar. |
Proper Fraction | The number above the bar is smaller than the number below the bar. |
Simplest Form | A fraction is in simplest form when the numerator and denominator have only 1 as a common factor. |
