Traditional Animation | an animation technique where each frame is drawn by hand |

Live Action | actions within a film or animation that is carried out by a human |
Cel | a sheet of transparent celluloid paper used in cel animation |
Cel Animation | traditional animation where objects are drawn on a cel and placed over a stationary background |
Stop Motion Animation | a technique where the camera is repeatedly stopped and started in order to give objects the impression of movement |
Rotoscoping | an animation technique where a sequence of usually photographed frames are projected or enlarged so that the artist can trace from the frame or create an image to superimpose on it. |
Cutout Animation | an animation technique that uses flat characters, props and backgrounds cut from materials such as paper, card, stiff fabric or even photographs |
Silhouette Animation | an animation technique where the characters are only visible as black silhouettes Computer Generated Imagery Animation CGI the process of generating animated images using computer graphics |
Computer Assisted Animation | animation that includes aspects of traditional animation with 3D modeling and 2D computer graphics |
Frame | one animation cel whose position in time is measured in frames on a strip of film |
Keyframe | a drawing that defines the starting and ending points of any smooth transition |
Tweening | the transition that blends two animation cels together |
Registration Marks | small measured marks that are used to align images and frames |
Animation Loop | the repetition of part of the animation |
3D Modeling | the process of developing graphics and images that appear to have three dimensions |
Cel-shading | a type of rendering intended to make computer graphics appear hand drown |
Motion Capture | the technique of recording patterns of movement digitally, such as recording an actor's movements for the purpose of animating a digital character |
Render | the process of building output files from computer animation project |
