energy The ability to cause motion or create change.
kinetic energy Energy of motion.
potential energy Energy that is stored in an object (energy of position).
magnetism Force that acts on moving electric charges and magnetic materials.
friction The force that results when two materials rub against each other or when their contact prevents sliding.
force A push or a pull that acts on an object.
gravity The force of attraction between any two objects.
conduction The transfer of heat that occurs when one thing touches another.
convection The transfer of thermal energy as matter (air or liquid) moves and makes a current.
radiation Energy that is sent out in waves from a heat source.
refraction The bending of light when it passes into a medium (solid, liquid, or gas).
reflection Occurs when light rays bounce off a surface.
absorption Occurs when an object takes in light waves.
