assonance repetion of similar vowels.
ballad song that tells a story.

refrain repeating a word, phrase, line, or group
metaphor figure of speech between two different things without using like or as exp: life is a journey.
consonance repeating consonance sounds exp: kip keep your tip.
couplet two consecutive lines of poetry that rhyme.exp: no not that cat the other cat with the hat.
rhythm repetion, a pattern of sounds
diction Choice of words,a way of speaking.
enjambment running over a sentence or thought from one line to another
epic life story about a larger than life hero
free verse writing to be writing, not rhyming.
verse a line of poetry
imagery language that appeal to the senses.
internal ryhme occur in the middle of a line
stanza group of lines in a poem that forms a single unit.
onomatpeia sound wordsex: boom, crash, buzz
apostrophe in which a person is directly addressed
caesura a pause or break in a line of poetry
sonnet 14 line lyric poem that has one of several ryhme schemes
consnance the repition of sounds but not limited to the first letters of a word
