Ethics, Sources of law Key Terms

administrative law The body of law that regulates and the operations and procedures of government agencies.
Case Law the law as established by the outcome of former cases
English Common Law is the body of law derived from judicial decisions of courts and similar tribunals.
ethics moral principles that govern a person's behavior or the conducting of an activity.
greatest good policies that benefit the majority
Law of Precedent legal case that establishes a principle or law
Statutory law written law passed by body of legislature
golden rule persuasion to jury to put themselves in the verdict's shoes before making decision
consequential ethical reasoning consequences of one's conduct is the ultimate judgment about the rightness or wrongness
rule based ethical reasoning rights and wrongs of human conduct
Ethics as Reflected in U. S. Laws and the U. S. Constitution - Laws that are made to protect the rights of the majority
Department of Homeland Security Secure nation from any threats
DEA regulates commerce of prescription and harmful drugs
Executive Branch The president
FBI investigates crimes that are a threat to national security
judicial branch branch of government that interprets the law
