Basic Marketing Vocabulary

Brand (n) a person’s feeling about a product, service, experience, or organization
Banner (n) an elongated poster or display used to promote a product
Billboard (n) large, outdoor poster that advertises products
Client-base (n) a specific type of people that regularly buy a company’s product
Copy (n) the text used in promoting or marketing
Coupon (n) a small electronic and/or paper promotion that helps market a product by giving the recipient a discount off of their purchase
Endorsement  (n) when someone famous uses their own image to help promote a particular product
Jingle (n) a short song or melody that helps sell a product
Marketing mix (n) the 4 Ps: price, product, place and promotion
Product placement (n) when companies make arrangements with films, television shows, or events to have their product included in that particular media to help promote their product further
Press kit (n) a media package of brochures, coupons, and other assorted free materials sent to various outlets to help promote a product
Slogan (n) a special saying made from a few words that helps identify the company or brand
Spread (n) a large promotion in a magazine of a particular product or service across two full pages with glossy pictures
SEO (n) Search Engine Optimization
USP (n) Unique Sales Point
Viral marketing (n) information about a product spread between people, especially on the internet
