Basic HTML tags

TermDefinition
HTML language for displaying content on the web
markup language system for tagging a document to give instructions for display and logical structure
tag code that defines structure and display that is enclosed with <>
<html> </html> the first and last tags; all other tags are placed between these tags
<head> </head> tags that indicate the first of main two parts of an HTML page; the title tags are placed between these tags
<body> </body> tags that indicate the second of two main parts of an HTML page; all web content is placed between these tags
<title> </title> tags where instructions on what to display in a browser tab are placed
<h1></h1> ... <h6></h6> tags for headings that display text between them larger and bolder than other text
<p> </p> paragraph tag; white space automatically added around it
block element normally begins on new line
inline element flows in with surrounding text
attribute a piece of information which determines the properties of a tag
src attribute of image tag that stores the location of the image to display
height, width attributes use to change the size of an image
alt
