Detection of GBS

What are the three medias to identify GBS? Carrot broth, Todd-Hewitt, and LIM broth
What are the components of Carrot broth? nutrient broth with starch, horse serum, Polymixin B, Nystatin, and Methotrexate
What are the components of Todd-Hewitt broth? nutrient broth with Colistin and Nalidixic acid
What are the components of LIM broth? nutrient broth with Gentamycin and Nalidixic acid
Who is the target population and why is it important that we test for GBS? We screen women of child bearing age and/or at 35-37 weeks gestation for presence of GBS because this can cause neonatal meningitis for the newborn if not treated in the mother.
